Project 366 / 308 - Health options, advice and work
People love giving advice. I guess it's in the human nature to want to do that. I guess we're all seeking some validity for our actions too, hence the need to seek out advice to re-affirm our own actions.
I was having a reflexology treatment tonight when the therapist told me that I was beginning to show signs of stress. No shit sherlock; I've got 4 companies, ample staff, an expensive wife, 2 young kids and a lot of people relying on me day in day out. Yes I'm probably showing a few signs of stress. That said I've never been the stressy type, nor really felt that stressed. My life has been this way for as long as I can remember.
But the therapist asked if I'd ever considered yoga.
Nope. That's never even crossed my mind. I've been a very active gym goer for near on 30 years, pumping iron and chewing fat but never yoga.
"You know what you should do?"
Uh-oh, here it comes...
"You should do yoga, pilates and tai-chi. Plus you could definitely do with more sleep and less stress. You know you should delegate more."
Now I'm not saying that she's wrong, it's just if you followed all the advice you get thrown at from every angle then your typical day would have to cram in an aerobic exercise of some description (on an empty stomach of course), some kind of HIIT training at some point, an ice cold shower (because it invigorates the body and mind), some form of meditation, you'd have to practice gratitude, do some yoga, tai-chi and stretching exercises, practice deep breathing, pump some iron, probably go swimming to loosen up, have a hot towel massage and carry out some kind of full body cryogenic treatment. Oh and all the while consuming 6 smaller meals a day washed down with 4 litres of purified water, and get 8 hours sleep.
By the way, did anyone mention that some of us have to work? What about the family?
"Where's that bloke we see around from time to time?"
"You mean Dad?"
"Oh yeah... him"
"Oh don't worry, he's currently cryogenically frozen in the tank, he'll be out shortly to go for a hot stone massage"
